Rest assured, we do post update here when we have information officially available. We know its a matter of time for Microsoft to issue an update and fix the problem, we’re not sure what really happened is it buggy definition update that caused this issue? MS hasn’t officially acknowledged this issue till now, we’ll let you when we have an update on this. Judging from comments posted on social media and support forum Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 systems running Windows Defender and Microsoft Security Essentials with latest definitions installed are affected. Issue posted on Microsoft Social Technet forum as well.Ī Windows insider and MVP confirmed the issue on his Virtual Machines that all Windows 7, 8, 8.1 systems updated to definition version 1.289.1521.0 on March 19, 2019, running full scan are affected while other machines haven’t updated to latest definitions are performing the scan without any issues.
